The Law Society of Ontario (LSO), the regulating body of Ontario lawyers, holds elections every 4 years for Ontario’s lawyers to elect Benchers to represent them in the Law Society, similar to how citizens of a city elect city councillors to represent them at City Hall. “Recent calls” is a term to describe a lawyer who has recently been called to the bar, i.e. a lawyer who recently became licensed to practice.
