Astrid Mrkich, founder and operator of Mrkich Law, is an approved member of Legal Aid Ontario's General and Appellate Refugee Panel and accepts all Legal Aid certificates.

As the Legal Aid funding crisis continues, Ms. Mrkich is happy to offer clients who would normally qualify for legal aid, but are unable to obtain a certificate due to the provincial government’s cuts, negotiable rates, as well as payment plans, through private retainers Regardless of funding issues, Ms. Mrkich is a lawyer dedicated to improving access to justice.

Ms. Mrkich is happy to assist clients at all and any of the refugee claim process: initiating or submitting claims to the Refugee Protection Division (RPD), representing and advocating for clients at refugee hearings, filing appeals of negative refugee decisions at the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) or in Federal Court, requesting deferred removals, and arguing stays of deportation. Ms. Mrkich also has experience doing Detention Reviews at the Immigration Division (ID) and appeal work at the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) for Permanent Residents who are facing inadmissibility issues.
